ECL Awards ₦22.5M to Top Schools in 2025 Quiz & Debate

Theme: “Building Nigeria’s Future Leaders”

The Education Champions League (ECL) has disbursed a total of ₦22.5 million to winners of its 2025 Secondary Schools Quiz and Debate Competition.

Olive Shoots International School emerged overall champion, receiving ₦15 million in prize money.

Best Debating Student

The Best Debating Student, also from Olive Shoots International School, received a brand-new laptop as an additional award.

Chief Sody Peterside, ECL Board Chairman, noted that the initiative nurtures leadership and academic excellence, describing the League as “a beacon of hope and progress in Nigeria’s education system.”

“This event celebrates talent, dedication, and the transformative power of reading… nurturing comprehension, analysis, and communication — the traits that shape Nigeria’s future leaders.”

Dr. Lynn Ujiagbe emphasized that ECL is more than a competition — it’s a movement to revive literacy, promote nation-building, and inspire posterity.

She outlined ECL’s four pillars: promoting literacy, supporting nation-building, sustaining intellectual excellence, and preserving legacy.

Dr. Tombari Sibe, Chairman of the event, lauded ECL’s impact, linking education to national greatness and citing ancient Egypt and Mali as examples of civilizations built on learning.
